We at DDA believe in the importance of a uniform dress code for certain reasons:
There is no way to correct alignment and positioning if a dancer doesn’t wear form-fitting attire to class. Pink or light-colored tights make the lines of the legs visible. When baggy clothes disguise the lines of the body we cannot see if the student is executing the movement correctly and cannot help them adjust to improve their technique and prevent injury.
Using proper shoes during class is important because they are designed to support the technique and style of each specific type of dance. Street shoes are bad for our professional dance floors – leaving scuffs and dirt.
At DDA we teach more than dance. Coming to class prepared teaches our students discipline and focus. We also find dress codes are helpful to create unity among our dancers instead of causing a few dancers to stand out.
Please help us out by following our simple dress code rules and come to class prepared.
For classes that are scheduled back-to-back students only need to change shoes but no outfits. If one of those classes is a ballet class then the student must wear their ballet outfit and have hair in a bun. Usually dancers will enjoy adding on some capris or shorts over top of their ballet outfit so they can feel the jazz style more.
Dance Wear Sale @ the studio (beginning of September)
We are proud to have BZBodys coming to our studio one week prior to start of programs so DDA members have the great opportunity to conveniently purchase all their dance wear requirements at the studio. Families will get best pricing during this time and everything will be supplied according to the classes your child is registered in. Sizing for outfits and shoes are taken at that time, purchases must be paid for and then the items will be brought to the studio for pick up at the end of the week. Please check under Studio Announcements or our Important Dates page for exact dates and times and more info.
Buy & Sell on FaceBook
For parents wishing to buy or sell their used shoes, bodysuits or costumes we have set up an exclusive Facebook page called “DDA Buy & Sell” for our DDA families only. Because it is a closed group, you must request to join. Once we receive your request, we will approve you and you will be able to buy, sell or trade your dance wear.
