We love Hip Hop for its versatility, energy and fun nature. During our 6 weeks together, dancers will learn easy techniques, cool moves and combinations to upbeat music they love.
It’s a great class for kids/pre-teens to get out of their nutshell, find their own style and to build their self-confidence on and off the dance floor!

Recital/Costume:     This 6-weeks program is offered 5 times a year with no performance in our annual recital.

1 hour/week              Age 9-19              Competitive Edge              Full Year Program

Learn the different styles of Hip Hop in a fast paced, high energy class. To move up in Hip Hop competitive classes, teachers need to recommend the student.

Prerequisites:

Hip Hop Jr Choreo    9-13 yrs    1 hour
2+yrs exp, Teacher’s approval

Hip Hop Int Choreo    13-17 yrs    1 hour
Teacher’s approval

Hip Hop Sen Choreo    14-19 yrs    1 hour
Teacher’s approval

Recital/Costume:     Hip Hop C level classes perform a routine in our annual recital and will require a costume.

Dance Wear:     Please refer to Dance Attire for required dance wear for this class.

Classes: MT Jr C         1 hour             Enrolled in Jr2C to Jr4C – Ballet is required, a jazz tech class may be recommended
MT Int C         1 hour             Enrolled in Int2C to Int4C – Ballet is required, a jazz tech class may be recommended
MT Sr C         1:15 hours      Enrolled in Sen2C to Sen3C – Ballet is required, a jazz tech class may be recommended

Contemporary dance is difficult to define because it is a genre, not a technique. It incorporates a collection of methods and techniques found in ballet, modern dance and postmodern dance giving it a unique look. Contemporary dance tends to be intricate and physical requiring dancers to move in ways they may not be used to. Contemporary dance may also deal with abstract concepts, images, or emotional extremes. It has a rawness that sets it apart from plot-driven ballets or Broadway jazz.

Prerequisites:

Contemp 1 Choreo    12-14 yrs     1 hour
Add on class: Enrolled in BInt3C or BInt4C

Contemp 2 Choreo    13-16 yrs    1 hour
Add on class: Enrolled in BSen2C

Contemp 3 Choreo    14-17 yrs    1 hour
Add on class: Enrolled in BSen3C
