We at DDA believe in the importance of a uniform dress code for certain reasons:
There is no way to correct alignment and positioning if a dancer doesn’t wear form-fitting attire to class. Pink or light-colored tights make the lines of the legs visible. When baggy clothes disguise the lines of the body we cannot see if the student is executing the movement correctly and cannot help them adjust to improve their technique and prevent injury.
Using proper shoes during class is important because they are designed to support the technique and style of each specific type of dance. Street shoes are bad for our professional dance floors – leaving scuffs and dirt.
At DDA we teach more than dance. Coming to class prepared teaches our students discipline and focus. We also find dress codes are helpful to create unity among our dancers instead of causing a few dancers to stand out.
Please help us out by following our simple dress code rules and come to class prepared.
For classes that are scheduled back-to-back students only need to change shoes but no outfits. If one of those classes is a ballet class then the student must wear their ballet outfit and have hair in a bun. Usually dancers will enjoy adding on some capris or shorts over top of their ballet outfit so they can feel the jazz style more.
Dance Wear for FIRST STEPS dancers (3-7yrs)
Starting with the 2024-2025 Season, all dancewear requirements for our FIRST STEPS program (Wiggles & Giggles to Double Threat B & D) will be available for purchase AT THE STUDIO year-round!
If you’re a returning DDA family and wondering about the new dancewear requirements, here’s what you need to know: If your recreational shoes from last season still fit, you don’t need to replace them. Only buy new shoes if necessary. However, if you’re moving from the Recreational to the Competitive Program, you’ll need to purchase new dancewear from BZ Bodys (see options below).
Returning families (those who were enrolled for the full term last year) have until January 31, 2025, to update their uniforms. You can continue wearing the old navy-blue leotard and pink skirt until then. No other substitutions will be accepted.
Dance Wear for all RECREATIONAL & COMPETITIVE dancers (7+yrs)
All shoes, leotards, tights, and accessories can be purchased from BZ BODYS using the options listed below.
We are also excited to introduce three new leotard styles for ages 7 and up, along with ballet skirts for all ages and ballet wrap sweaters for the cooler months exclusively sold through the studio. Please note that sweatshirts and other cover-ups are no longer allowed. For samples and assistance with sizing, please consult the office.
