Describe your job in 3 words!
Rewarding, heartfelt, positive
What do you do at DDA?
I teach the competitive contemporary and lyrical classes at DDA.
What led you to work in this field?
I started dancing in Calgary at age 3. I continued to dance competitively until I was 18 years old. I was lucky enough to train at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Alberta Ballet, and at various studios in New York City. I graduated high school with a Diploma in Performance and Visual Arts (dance focused). I moved to Edmonton for university, and was able to dance with MOD contemporary Dance at the UofA. In 2021-2022 I had the opportunity to be the president of this club. Once I graduated university I began teaching dance as well as continuing my own training.
Did you have a favorite style of dance growing up?
Growing up my favourite style of dance was ballet. It wasn’t until I was 17-18 that I started to love contemporary dance!
When did you join DDA?
2022
Best thing of being part of the DDA team?
The best thing about being apart of the DDA team is the community. Both staff and students are so welcoming, and hardworking. It is truly like a second family.
What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I have read the Harry Potter series 6 times (and am currently starting #7!)
Where do we find you when you are not working?
When I’m not working at DDA I can be found in my classroom teaching grade 4, at Starbucks, or spending time with family/friends.
What are you excited about for the new season?
This new dance season I am looking forward to seeing how far my dancers have already come, and seeing how much they continue to grow. I also look forward to seeing all the new music/ideas/costumes that our amazing teachers come up with this year!
